Revanth Reddy Gives Uber a New Mission: Fix India’s Parking Crisis

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged Uber� to focus on solving the growing parking problems in major cities. He suggested that the company come forward to establish multi-level parking centers wherever possible.
✅ A delegation led by Uber Chief Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi met the Chief Minister at his residence in Jubilee Hills. During the meeting, the delegation briefed him on Uber’s business operations and expansion plans.
✅ Dara Khosrowshahi stated that Uber is expanding its Center of Excellence in Hyderabad. He mentioned that it is Uber’s first such center outside the United States and currently employs around 600 engineers. He also expressed interest in constructing an Uber corporate office in Bharat Future City and said the company plans further expansion in the future, seeking government support for the same.
✅ The Chief Minister highlighted that parking has become a major issue in leading cities across the country and may worsen in the future. He advised Uber representatives to focus on developing multi-level parking facilities.
✅ He explained that the lack of proper parking facilities is causing difficulties in areas such as metro stations. He also suggested establishing parking centers along with EV charging stations. Uber representatives responded positively and said they would conduct a detailed study on the suggestions made by the Chief Minister.
✅ The Chief Minister also briefed the delegation about the prestigious Bharat Future City project being developed near Hyderabad. He stated that the city, spread across 30,000 acres, is designed to be one of the most unique urban developments in the world. The government is inviting 500 globally renowned companies to set up operations there, and several firms have already shown interest.
✅ He further explained the strategic importance of the Future City project, located just 25 kilometers from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad. He noted that more than 100 companies participated in the Global Summit held there last December and expressed interest in investments. Dara Khosrowshahi also showed keen interest in establishing Uber’s corporate office in the Future City.
✅ Uber Chief Business Officer Madhu Kannan, Uber India & South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh, Chief Technology Officer Praveen Nippalli Naga, and CM Special Secretary Ajit Reddy also attended the meeting.
